Heritage Veterinary Practice

University Drive Veterinary Hospital was founded by Dr. D. Michael Murphy, in 1971. Dr Murphy was a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. The practice was originally set up in his house on Pugh street, in State College PA. A partnership with a local businessman to build at the current location saw the hospital finding its home at, 1602 University Drive in State College, PA. Dr. Murphy practiced by himself until he was joined by Michael K. Moss, VMD, in 1975, after his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Moss purchased the practice in 1978, and for many years was a solo practitioner, with an occasional associate helping out over the years.

Dr. Moss was family veterinarian to the practice’s current owner, Susan Lincoski, VMD (University of Pennsylvania, 1998). She was only 7 years old when she interviewed him for a second grade project, after taking her kitten to see him.  This theme would recur over the years, as Dr. Moss proved a mentor to her, helping her gain experience in the field when applying to veterinary schools, and working during the summer months during her own time at UPenn.  Though Dr. Lincoski moved around and practiced in other places after graduation, she was always the heir apparent.

In late 2009, she relocated from Florida, while her husband was serving overseas.  They were planning on settling back in State College, PA to be closer to family and Penn State University (both Dr. Lincoski and her husband are alumni) but the timeline shortened due to the birth of their daughter, Paige.  Upon arrival in State College, of course Dr. Moss was ready to ease her into the practice as a new mom;  she worked part time until purchasing the practice in 2013.

The practice later saw Dr. Moss enter retirement, and the 2015 addition of associate veterinarian Dr. Jamie Miller (Ross University, 2013)  Over the years some cosmetic updates and minor facility expansion have occurred, along with technological upgrades, with the practice now offering state-of-the-art ultrasonic, radiologic and laboratory equipment, and a consulting board-certified veterinary surgeon who is able to perform complex outpatient procedures right in our own surgical suite.   In addition, integrative medicine (chinese herbs, and acupuncture) is an area that Dr. Miller enjoys.  The practice has remained proudly independently owned, and provides high quality “family medicine” through all stages of life.

The practice may have grown and changed through the years, but the traditions of Drs. Murphy and Moss to provide exemplary and compassionate care is the goal of Dr. Lincoski and Dr. Miller.
